Simon heads a highly motivated team of experienced landscapers who boast the full range of landscaping skills. This negates the need to subcontract and ensures that all the elements of their landscaping projects are completed to the highest standards.
In 2004, Simon moved his landscaping firm into Poplar Nurseries of Marks Tey, Colchester, a similar family run business with over 60 years experience
in horticulture. With a new design studio at the nursery, Simon
is now able to meet clients and present his teams skills directly
to the visiting gardening public. By taking advantage of the on
site plant & material samples stocked by the nursery, the nursery
studio provides an excellent centre for Simon to develop a client’s
dream into a reality
Simon Hutchinson has built up a strong client base that continues
to grow. The firm prides itself on listening to its clients and
providing a quality service from the first meeting to discuss design
through to the final handover of the completed garden.
This High quality, professional approach to garden design and construction has been recognised by the Horticultural Trades Association and its specialist affiliate, The Association of Professional Landscapers, who have awarded Hutchinsons Landscapes full membership. Membership of these highly respected associations is only granted after a thorough vetting of both the office practices and landscaping work on site.
Hutchinsons design centre is also attracting much interest from many of the regions premier designers following awards from many regional garden shows and further afield.
In 2004, Hutchinsons were asked to build a show garden at the Bicentennial, RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. Their efforts were recognised with a bronze medal and a feature in the BBC's coverage of the show. In addition, the garden's design and construction received much critical acclaim in the national press, who generally agreed that this first time effort demonstrated a positive flair. Sponsorship discussions, with an international importer of landscaping products are currently well underway for a return in the near future.
Following the success at Hampton court, Hutchinsons Landscapes was invited to participate in a televised national design and build completion featured on Channel 4. Closer to home, Hutchinsons have been awarded a second place and a silver medal in the best of show competitions at the last two Little Bentley Garden shows (2004 & 2006).
